Pasqua’s Primitivo isn’t your standard Puglian version of the variety. Taking inspiration from the Californian name of the grape on the label (Zin), this blends old and new world styles into a wine that holds both the earthy/spicy complexity of Italian Primitivo and the berry-laden plushness of new world Zinfandel. It’s a deeply coloured wine, as lush as stated on the label. The backbone is of black fruit and spice around a savoury core of violets. The palate is soft, round and full, with velvety tannins.
