Harry’s Bar in Venice is a declared national landmark, established in 1931 by Giuseppe Cipriani. It gained fame immediately upon opening due to its post war glamour, San Marco location and exceptional bartenders. A key to its success was the warm atmosphere and lack of imposition – it became the place where artists and aristocrats could meet and brought to life the seminal moments that would inspire books and go down in history. Harry’s once claimed as regulars the likes of Ernest Hemmingway, Katherine Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Aristotle Onassis. In 1983, Cipriani Drinks was formed with the knowledge of Harry’s bartenders to bring the recipes, flavours and ingredients from Venice into homes all over the world. The range embodies the Harry’s Bar experience, starting with the world-famous Bellini. This simple cocktail of fresh peach purée and sparkling wine is a symbol of freedom, Italian art and hospitality that is now popular all over the world. Cipriani’s Bellini is made to the exact original recipe developed in Venice, with fresh peach purée and Italian sparkling wine, and the iconic balance that mirrors the experience that can be found steps from the Grand Canal of Venice, no matter where in the world it is sipped. A more recent addition to the range is a London Dry Gin the Cipriani family make to a specific recipe to produce the best Montgomery possible (another cocktail invented at Harry’s Bar, by none other than Ernest Hemingway). Then, there’s the 7 Parti Amaro, featuring the local carciofo violetto (violet artichoke) cultivated on the Venetian island of Sant’Antonio in Torcello. Finally we now have the Cipriani Drinks DOC Prosecco, made to the exacting standards of the team to ensure it fits with the Harry’s Bar house style.
