This 100% Nero is from the north-west of Sicily. Fruit was sorted then vinified in small stainless-steel vats, with medium-term maceration at controlled temperatures. Pressing was very gentle, to ensure the bitter tannins that can occur with this variety were managed in balance with full extraction of colour.
There was no oak involved at any point in vinification, and so it presents as a remarkably pure example of Nero d’Avola, particularly at this price point. Expect inky colour, aromas of berries, liquorice and spice and a full-bodied, velvety and persistent palate.
