The maritime climate and shallow limestone soils in the Kongorong area keep crop levels low and concentrate grape characters in this wine. 100% Pinot Noir saw a wild fermentation with varying levels of whole bunch and maceration. Maturation was for eight months in second use French oak hogsheads followed by some rest in tank for the wine to come together as a whole.

Not shying away from its seaside roots and wild climate, this is a Pinot Noir full of its own personality, with complex savoury/spice flavours and a bright and lip-smacking palate. Dark cherry, jubes and subtle spice on the nose lead to a complex palate with more dark cherry, star anise and cinnamon spice with underlying mushroom characters. It finishes with spicy oak and silky tannins.

“A young uncomplicated bright red wine with pretty, candies strawberry-like aromatics. Plenty of structure to this vibrant palate that’s brimming over with fleshy fruit flavours” 98 points, 5 stars, Winestate Magazine
