Villa Rosa Ribaldoni Chianti Classico DOCG

Villa Rosa Ribaldoni Chianti Classico DOCG

Villa Rosa’s vines extend over 30 hectares in Castella in Chianti at altitudes between 225 and 425 metres. This is sourced from the three key vineyards of Casetto, Ribaldoni and the original, 1965-planted Palagione. Each represents different terroir and brings various aspects, altitudes and soil types, providing a complex array of terroir-specific characters to the final wine. This is 100% Sangiovese, matured for 12 months in large-format oak and six in bottle before release.

This is a bold, savoury and traditional style of Chianti Classico, with complex savoury elements of black olive and iron-ore, which are unique to the terroir. The palate is dense and muscular, with ripe dark fruit, roasted coffee and spice. Firm tannins and penetrating length suggest a long future for this wine.

2022

“A spicy wine with licorice, graphite, peppermint and red fruit aromas. Medium-bodied, it shows vibrancy, juiciness, velvety tannins and crisp, slightly lifted acidity.” 90 points, James Suckling

2021

“The nose has the earthy, sanguine feel of damp soil, tobacco leaf, black pepper and tart black plum, and the palate is consistent, with blackberries joining more plums and earth, before a chocolatey finish. Tannins are smooth and slick.” 90 points, Best Buy, Danielle Callegari, Wine Enthusiast
