Three parcels make this Shiraz: a certified biodynamic vineyard in the Willunga Foothills, then organic and biodynamic sites in the Sellicks Foothills and Blewitt Springs. The three subregions of McLaren Vale contribute to a balanced style, a far cry from this region’s syrupy shiraz of the ’90s, but with McLaren Vale’s gift of bold mouthfeel partnered with a soft and silky finish. Winemaking features open-top fermenters with whole berries and whole bunches, followed by carefully judged oak: 16 months in seasoned French oak foudres (40%), new French hogsheads (10%), and seasoned French hogsheads (50%).
2023
The 2023 La Niña vintage delivered a late harvest, creating fruit with great balance. It features deep blackberry, plum, and cocoa aromas and whispers of black olive due to the cooler vintage. The palate is juicy and velvety, finishing clean and
balanced with restrained power and length.
