The Boccallupo Sangiovese is a deeply personal wine for the Stefani family, produced from cuttings originating from the family’s ancestral vineyard in Tuscany and grown on the family estate in the Yarra Valley. The wine reflects both the Italian heritage of the Stefani family and the cool-climate influence of the Yarra Valley. Fruit is entirely estate-grown and hand-picked, with the wine matured for 10–12 months in large-format oak, including a combination of new and seasoned barrels. This approach allows the purity of Sangiovese fruit and savoury character to remain at the forefront while softening tannins and building complexity.

This displays classic varietal aromas of dark cherry, raspberry and violet layered with earthy nuances, dried herbs and hints of sun-dried tomato. The palate is vibrant and savoury, offering red berry and cherry fruit flavours supported by silky tannins, subtle oak influence and refreshing natural acidity. Rustic in the best Tuscan sense, the wine finishes long and savoury, making it an ideal partner for food.
