Created by renowned Italian winemaker Carlo Ferrini, Alberelli di Giodo is sourced from tiny parcels of old-vine Nerello Mascalese on the northern slopes of Mount Etna. Fruit comes from 50–80-year-old bush vines planted between 560 and 850 metres above sea level on volcanic soils and trained in the traditional alberello system. Following 20 days of skin contact, including alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel and a délestage during fermentation, the wine matures for approximately 18 months in a combination of large and small oak barrels and cocciopesto amphora, before a period in cement and a further 12 months in bottle.

“The aromas of ash and lava are so intense with cherries and graphite. Medium-bodied with a tight, compacted palate, chewy yet fine tannins and a lively finish. You can taste the high altitude and century-old vines.” 97 Points, James Suckling
