This Shiraz vineyard sits on one of Marananga’s most picturesque slopes, an area renowned for producing some of the Barossa Valley’s most celebrated wines. The small site is rooted in ancient soils, with shallow red‑brown clay and deposits of pink quartz. The south‑easterly aspect encourages slow, even ripening, while surrounding native vegetation supports a healthy and diverse vineyard ecosystem.
The fruit was hand‑picked and 75% of the bunches were fermented whole in concrete, with the remainder crushed over the top. After a short cold soak and gentle handling, the ferments were foot‑stomped before being pressed and sent to tank for malolactic fermentation. The wine was then matured in concrete eggs for 15 months, allowing it to develop texture and complexity before bottling and release.

“Crimson with purple flashes in the glass and notes of dark plum, black cherry and boysenberry spotted with baking spice, dark chocolate, licorice and earth. Fine sandy tannins provide support, the acid profile is nervy and saline and the wine departs slowly with memories of spiced plums and earth.” 92 points, Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
