Tscharke’s Montepulciano was planted in 2001 in the Stone Well vineyard, making it the first-ever planting of this variety in Australia. It’s a very fruitful variety, so the team practice bunch thinning to ensure there is no loss of concentration in the harvested fruit. Maturation was in French oak hogsheads (15% new) for 10 months.

Spicy, savoury, rustic and deeply coloured, this wine stays very close to its varietal roots. Aromas and flavours in the cherry and plum spectrum complement the savoury elements and subtle oak. With its medium-body, texture and complexity, this is a very versatile wine suitable to a wide variety of occasions.
