Tscharke A Thing Of Beauty

This is sourced from distinct Grenache blocks at Gnadenfrei, hand-picked at different times to create layers and complexity from the vineyard, then vinified separately. After fermentation and a gentle pressing, the wine goes to terracotta amphorae to undergo partial élevage before blending. It’s then returned as a united whole to terracotta for a further eight months with regular bâtonnage.

2022

“A gentle ruby in the glass. It’s a pretty-smelling little thing. All cherries and wild strawberry. Raspberry too, with hints of citrus blossom, gingerbread, rose petals, exotic spice, charcuterie, earth, and distant glimpses of sarsaparilla. Airy and spacious with lots of detail, a vivid minerally tension and a chalky, savoury sour cherry sheen to its passing.” 93 points, Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
