Have you ever met a wine with a passport? Vajo dei Masi needs one, it’s had one hell of a ride. This one-off release, designed to celebrate Masi’s 250th harvest comes entirely from the eponymous founding vineyard, high up in the hills in the Valpolicella Classica region. The vintage is 1997, one of the best in the last century. It’s been tasted every year of its 25 years of maturation, both from the early years in barrel(1998-2002) and then during the remaining 20 years in stainless steel under nitrogen.
1997
Vajo dei Masi retains an unusual and unexpected freshness, even after 25 years of aging. The label is signed by Masi President Sandro Boscaini and it comes packaged in an oak presentation box. Accompanying the wine is the oenologist’s notebook, so you can see it’s entire journey. The limited edition of numbered bottles is available in Magnum format only
