Verdeca is a rare indigenous Puglian variety that shares similarities with Albarino in its vibrancy, herbal aromatics and exotic citrus flavours. Leone De Castris make several wines from this variety, ranging from zippy early-harvest styles to more textural versions. This one sits in-between these styles, with the more exotic fruit spectrum from a ripe harvest, plus some texture attained from lees maturation. Fermentation was cool and all vinification and maturation took place in stainless steel.

A beautiful aperitif wine, this is is fresh and vibrant, with a bouquet of wild meadow flowers and piquant tropical fruits. The palate is sapid and lithe, with hay notes and some intriguing salinity joining the floral and fruity flavours hinted at on the nose. The finish is lean and citrus-edged, the perfect foil to fresh seafood.
