Fantini Casale Vecchio Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC

Grown in Fantini’s Roseti degli Abruzzi vineyards north of Pescara, the Casale Vecchio is Fantini’s mid-range flagship expression of their most important grape and regional source. Crafted with a focus on concentration, purity, and aromatic depth, winemaking begins with a deliberate extraction of around 10% of the must to intensify the remaining juice, followed by early fermentation at low temperatures to enhance the extraction of polyphenols responsible for the wine’s deep ruby hue, after which the temperature is carefully managed at a higher temperature to guide a clean, expressive primary fermentation. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation before being matured for approximately six months in American oak barriques, a choice that contributes warm notes of vanilla, spice, and subtle sweetness, shaping the wine’s signature plush texture and supple tannins.

A deep ruby colour, this wine always offers an intense, expressive nose of ripe red fruits layered with marzipan and warm spice. On the palate it is supple, and textured, with elegant tannins supporting flavours of red and black fruit, subtle oak‑derived vanilla and chocolate tones, plus hints of smoke and leather. The overall impression is plush yet balanced, in a smooth, crowd‑pleasing style.
