Fantini uses 100% Merlot grapes for this rosato wine, grown at the foot of the towering Maiella mountain massif in Abruzzo. Named after the night-time harvest, Calalenta is picked in the cool dark, then pressed and cooled immediately, inertly and below zero degrees. Fermentation is also completed at cool temperatures, before maturation on lees in stainless steel.
The microclimate at the base of the mountain and the vinification techniques contribute to producing a very fine and pure rosé wine with beautifully perfumed red fruit and floral notes from the Merlot presenting delicately alongside a slippery mouthfeel and lasting finish.
