Contadi Castaldi Brut Franciacorta DOCG

This Franciacorta comes from Lombardy and is built on a classic blend of 80% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Nero and 10% Pinot Bianco. Soft pressing and cold settling prepare the base wine before a stainless steel fermentation, followed by partial malolactic fermentation for added roundness. The wine then matures for 7 months in a mix of steel and barriques. Secondary fermentation occurs in bottle, and the wine spends 20–26 months ageing on lees before an additional 3–4 months bottle age after disgorgement.

In the glass, it shows a yellow colour with greenish highlights and a fine, persistent perlage. The nose is fresh and delicate, offering lime blossom, citrus, white peach and a touch of green pepper. On the palate it’s crisp, tight and vertical, carrying its freshness confidently through a refined, full‑bodied texture and a long, enjoyable finish. With 6 g/L residual sugar, it leans dry and refreshing, making it ideal as an aperitivo wine, especially with cold cuts or finger food.

NV

“Bright straw yellow with delicate green reflections. A pronounced aroma of pear and acacia blossom, with a subtle hint of sea salt in the background. Simple and straightforward on the palate, with crisp fruit, very accessible.” 91 points, Falstaff (2025)

“Restrained almond, lemon leaf and citrus aromas follow through to the palate. The attack is soft, with a silky mousse, zesty acid and a lean body. Polished finish, silky and creamy, not without tension.” 92 Points, James Suckling (2023 disgorgement)
