Named after the Liverpool Football Club’s unofficial theme song, and labeled in the team’s trademark red, this contains Grenache from the dry-grown Shankly Vineyard (named for Liverpool manager Bill Shankly), which supplies concentrated, fleshy fruit, old-vine intensity and the gnarly vine character that anchors this blend. Watervale bush vines contribute higher-toned spice, lift and tensile acidity. Estate Shiraz adds mid-palate weight, cracked-pepper spice and warm baking notes, while Mataro (old-vine blocks) brings fine dustiness, savoury earth and a leather seam that frames the finish. Selective co-fermentation is used to knit components together and maturation in seasoned French oak preserves fruit clarity while adding subtle texture. The result is an immediately approachable red at release yet it has layered tannic structure that will reward short-term cellaring.

“A cracking version of this red blend, which is surely better value than a wager on Liverpool to win the EPL (fans of the wine will know the reference, one I may well live to regret). The blend is 48% Grenache, 44% Shiraz, and 8% Mataro. The vineyards are dry grown bush vines in excess of 80 years of age. The colour is a crimson/garnet. Attractive aromatics which weave through notes of plums, redcurrants, raspberries, dried herbs, aniseed and coffee grinds. Seamless in structure, right through to the slightly grainy tannins on a persistent finish. There is good balance and concentration throughout and this is a wine for enjoying over the next decade.” 93 points, Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot
“It’s generously fruited and inviting on the nose, showing dark plum, cherry, thyme, and warm spice aromas, leading to a succulent palate that’s fleshy and supple. Beautifully framed by silky tannins, offering excellent drinking.” 93 points, Wine Orbit
