With a history dating back to 1892, Taylor Ferguson has been in the business of growing grapes, making, bottling and marketing wine for well over 100 years. The wines are crafted for balance and personality, an art perfected over time by what remains a passionate, family-owned and run company.
The core Taylor Ferguson estate vineyards are in Coonawarra, where there is a focus on red varieties, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon—a variety known to be particularly suited to the region’s characteristic limestone soils. In fact, the cassis-laden, complex reds from the home Coonawarra vineyard have defined the ethos of the new genesis of Taylor Ferguson; to produce generous varietal wines which exhibit the unique characteristics of their origin. These wonderful wines drink well above their price points, never at a loss of the personality of terroir.
The Prosecco is produced from King Valley fruit, from Australia’s heartland of Italian varietals in north-eastern Victoria, also the birthplace of the Pinot Grigio and white varieties which benefit from the cool continental climate. Further examples include a McLaren Vale Shiraz, and wonderfully characteristic wines from the Limestone Coast and across southern Australia, all representative examples of Taylor Ferguson’s overarching philosophy. The comprehensive offering includes dry red and white table wines, through to sparkling wines and, when seasons allow, botrytised dessert wines.
