Piccini

Piccini

Four generations of pan-Italian winemaking

Founded in 1882, Piccini is one of Tuscany’s most established family-owned wine companies, now in its fourth generation of ownership. From its origins in Castellina in Chianti, the family has grown from a local Chianti producer into a modern Italian wine group with vineyard holdings and winery partnerships spanning several of Italy’s most important regions. Despite this expansion, Tuscany remains at the heart of the business, with Sangiovese and Chianti forming the foundations of the Piccini identity. The portfolio combines classic regional wines with a contemporary, quality-focused approach, delivering authentic Italian styles with broad commercial appeal.

Heritage

Piccini was founded in 1882 when Angiolo Piccini purchased seven hectares of vineyards in Castellina in Chianti. Over more than 140 years and four generations, the family has evolved from a traditional Chianti producer into one of Italy’s leading privately owned wine companies. The modern era has been shaped by Mario Piccini, whose focus on innovation, vineyard renewal and quality has expanded the company’s presence both within Italy and internationally.

Philosophy

At the heart of Piccini’s philosophy is the belief that wine should express both its regional origins and contemporary drinkability. Whether producing Chianti, Pinot Grigio, Prosecco or wines from southern Italy, the family prioritises provenance, varietal character and accessibility. Vineyard management focuses on site selection, clone improvement and sustainable practices, while winemaking combines modern technology with respect for traditional Italian styles.

Location

Piccini’s historic home remains in Castellina in Chianti, one of Tuscany’s most important wine-growing villages. From this base, the company works across several key Italian wine regions, including Chianti and Toscana IGT in Tuscany, Veneto and Prosecco DOC, Delle Venezie DOC, Sicily, and Puglia. This multi-regional footprint provides access to a diverse range of terroirs while maintaining a strong connection to Italy’s leading wine appellations.
