A high‑altitude red from Alpera in Albacete, the Finca Fella vineyards sit between 650–700 metres and benefit from cool mountain breezes and chalk‑ and limestone‑rich soils—ideal for concentrated, aromatic fruit. It’s a breathtaking site, arid, high and remote, with ancient bush vines which are baked in the day but chilled in the night. Cala Ray is a blend of 80% Tempranillo and 20% Syrah, vinified separately to preserve each variety’s character. Tempranillo undergoes 7 days of fermentation in stainless steel, while Syrah is destemmed and fermented in rotating steel tanks.
The nose is expressive with ripe red berries, wild forest fruits and subtle earth. On the palate, it’s balanced and easy‑drinking, offering medium persistence, a juicy red‑fruit core, and a lightly savoury, liquorice-tinged finish. Its fruit‑forward personality, lifted freshness, and smooth texture make it immediately appealing while still retaining a sense of place from its high‑altitude vineyards.
