Mesa sources its 100% Cannonau in the ancient and volcanic mountainous interior of Sardinia. Known in the rest of the world as Grenache, this is made in a style with a nod to Spain and, like the Sardinians themselves, this is Grenache built for longevity—strong and masterful with firm structure and impressive tannins.
Although the wine has received eight months maturation in tonneaux, oak influence is minimal. Fruit reigns supreme here, with a rich bouquet of red and black berries offset by violets and mint. The palate is full, round and warm, providing a teetering set of extremes between opulent fruit, rich body, earthy savouriness and assertive tannin structure.
