Indigenous Umbrian, Organic additions

We’re excited to announce an expansion into Umbrian wines through Tenuta Alzetura. This winery was established by long-time Alepat family producers, the Cecchi family towards the end of the 1990s, and encapsulates three widely different terroirs quite close together in Umbria, capable of producing distinctly different versions of the indigenous grape of the region, Sagrantino. This dry-toned, savoury, bold and tannic grape is the focus, but there’s also a white – a floral-noted yet savoury Trebbiano Spolentino, which is quietly achieving some acclaim in the background despite being produced only in tiny quantities. This set of three vineyards also marks the Cecchi family’s first certified organic sites, which began transition in 2018, and marked its first organic certified vintage in 2021.

Our first shipment includes two of these 2021 wines, the Trebbiano Spoletino (Montefalco Bianco DOC) and the Montefalco Rosso, which is a Sagrantino, Sangiovese, Merlot blend. The Montefalco di Sagrantino DOCG is 100% Sagrantino and is from 2018. For more information, please visit our dedicated Tenuta Alzetura page or contact us.
