Andrian Tor Di Lupo Alto Adige Lagrein DOC

Lagrein is native to South Tyrol. Although it is now the powerful red ambassador of the region, taste preferences in the mid-century meant that by the 1970s it was nearly wiped out. Andrian was partially responsible for its resurgence, in part due to them shifting maturation of the wine to new barriques, along with very tightly controlling the yields.
The 2021 was fermented in steel and then proceeded through malolactic and maturation in 100% new barriques. This has provided a sweet and silky balance to the muscular, dark and brooding grape that in other cases can have some unapproachable hard edges.

2022

“Loganberry and blueberry aromas, attractive earthy and lightly jammy palate of damson and sweet cherry, orange peel and spicy barrel characters.” Silver, Decanter World Wine Awards 2025

2021

“Dense, fruity bouquet with blue and black berries, including very ripe red fruit. On the palate, it has a velvety strength and texture, quite melting without appearing fat, more like an athlete dressed in velvet.” Weinwisser

“On the nose, it shows decadence and a deep forest character with aromas of dark berries, black mushrooms, old wood and black berries that develop into a medium body with fine layers of tannins and a concentrated finish.” 94 points, James Suckling

92 points, Falstaff
