The Prospect was created from a bit of instinct and exploration, very much in the spirit of Gibson’s Dirtborn philosophy. It blends Shiraz (~75%) and Montepulciano (~25%), two varieties that bring different strengths to the table, into a style built on dark fruit, spice and savoury structure. The wine reflects Gibson’s ongoing fascination with what the Barossa landscape can reveal, continuing the legacy that began with Rob Gibson’s geological roots.
2023
This inaugural release was matured for 18 months in French and American oak puncheons. Vibrant and aromatic, lifted florals, wild herbs, mulberry and black cherry are framed by subtle spice. The palate leads with a solid core of dark cherry flavour wrapped in layers of spice. Rustic, persistent tannins provide gentle grip without overwhelming the fruit, creating a structured but approachable style that holds its shape all the way through the finish.
