Montepulciano is part of Gibson’s push toward next‑gen Barossa varieties, those which thrive naturally in warm, dry conditions, and can sit comfortably alongside the region’s long‑established classics. This variety brings Mediterranean adaptability and plenty of personality to the Barossa landscape. Gibson sourced fruit grown across two Barossa sites. Maturation was for ten months in seasoned French and American oak hogsheads and puncheons, a gentle approach that supports the fruit without overwhelming it.

“Deep, dark red with a good rim of purple and aromas that recall rope licorice and aniseed jellies. The palate is full bodied and the tannins impart a firm grip to the end palate. Licorice/chocolate bullets on the palate. A solid red wine that would easily cope with heartier foods.” 90 points, Huon Hooke, The Real Review
