Discovery Road Il Minestrone exists as a space for the winemaker to get creative, much like a chef building a signature Italian dish. As Rob explains it, this wine is pulled together layer by layer until it represents the rustic elegance that makes this wine so easily drinkable. It brings together a mix of Barossa Valley varieties (Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro, Merlot, Graciano and Montepulciano) which varies depending on the vintage, making this an expression of time within a fluid varietal mix. After fermentation, the wine matured for 18 months in seasoned French and American oak hogsheads.
2023
A Shiraz-dominated wine this year, the 2023 opens with floral notes and a mix of red and black cherries, layered with a gentle touch of savoury spice. The palate sits in the medium‑bodied zone and feels softly structured, offering flavours of forest berries, red plums, fresh cherries and pomegranate. Everything settles into smooth, savoury tannins on the finish, making it a relaxed, food‑friendly style that suits everything from hearty ragu to casual weeknight pasta.
