Balbi Soprani Gavi DOCG

Established by Francesco Capetta in the late 1980’s as Cantine Capetta, the Balbi Soprani project is now an agricultural estate that brings together 20 hectares of Balbi Soprani vineyards in Cuneo (to the southwest of Asti), plus selected plots guaranteed by the Capetta family.

Winemakers since 1953, the Capetta family operates in Piedmont across the famed DOCs and DOCGs of Langhe, Terre del Gavi, Roero, Acqui, and the Moscato hills of Cuneo, Asti and Alessandria. The domain produces the gamut of table wines from Piemonte from sweet and light whites through to deep and brooding reds.

Made from 100% Cortese grape, Gavi is a crisp and very dry white produced in the Province of Alessandria within Piedmont, close to the Ligurian border, and is named after the town of Gavi. This example is delicate and slightly herbal with lemon curd and honeydew characters offset by savoury green almond and straw notes.
