Winemaker Riccardo Cotarella is a big fan of Falanghina, and Donnachiara have allowed him to do with this wine what many thought impossible, mature it before release. Comparing it in aging potential to the Verdicchio di Jesi wines, he elected to retain a selection from the Falanghina Benveentano harvest and extended its maturation on fine lees, doubling down with a year in bottle before release. He encourages the patient to leave this for a further 6-7 years and open for “an incredible surprise”.

Age has developed secondary notes to this wine, and so while it still has the primary varietal character of apricot and pineapple, here spice enters the picture, even lending tones of vanilla (althought the wine is unoaked). The palate is dry yet creamy, finishing with a flinty, almost electric zing.
