Donnachiara Campania Aglianico IGT

Infrequent, gentle movements and a short maceration on skins have made this the juiciest and most forward of the Donnachiara Aglianico wines. Fermentation and a short maturation took place in seasoned barriques for 3 months.

While still classically varietal in nature, with dark berry aromas and flavours, pepper and earth, this is a brightly styled Aglianico, medium bodied rather than full, crunchy rather than muscular. An intriguing minerality/flint note from the Irpinia terroir keeps the wine interesting throughout.

“Notes of plums and black raspberries with spices and attractive ashy, dark stone minerality to it. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and a juicy, mouth-filling fruit character. I like the tension here and subtle earthy undertones. Vivid and crunchy at the end. Drink or hold.” 91 points, James Suckling
