Selectively harvested grapes from the home Montefalcione vineyard go into this, Donnachiara’s top Greco di Tufo wine. Cryomaceration and gentle pneumatic pressing are utilised to preserve delivate primary fruit flavours. The wine remains in tank (stainless steel) for a full year on lees, and has weekly batonnage (malolactic fermentation is not allowed to progress). Just over 3000 bottles are made each year.
This has a very complex olfactory profile, with notes of ripe stone fruit, tropical fruit and citrus. Hints of the regional Tufo (volcanic) soil are present in a pervading mineral line, while the palate is layered with whispers of wildflowers. Soft and plush but never lacking freshness, length goes on for days.

“This is really tropical, yet bright and minerally, with chamomile, stone and spiced-pear character. It’s full-bodied, layered and extremely flavorful, but then it tightens at the end, providing energy and verve. Matchstick and mineral notes at the end. Drink now.” 94 points, James Suckling
