Il Vignaiolo

Il Vignaiolo

Pan-Italian, value-driven and delicious wines for the table

Il Vignaiolo is a special project built around expressive, geographically typical and flavoursome Italian wines, assembled through our long-standing grower relationships across Italy and curated specifically for the Australian market. The range is designed to reflect our taste for regional authenticity and drinkability along with price accessibility, while remaining true to the terroirs from which the wines are sourced. Taking its name from the Italian word for “the winemaker”, the brand draws on the idea of the vignaiolo as the caretaker of vineyard, wine and tradition, bringing together indigenous varieties and classic regional styles in a format that is accessible, food-friendly and unmistakably Italian.

Tradition & authenticity – DOC and IGT wines from northern and central Italy, made in traditional style from indigenous grapes.

Price accessibility – Delivers quality above its price point, supported by strong value recommendations in the media.

Bold Shelf Appeal – Clean, minimal styling with an on-trend colour palette that delivers easy recognition.

Boutique Origin – Small-batch sourcing by Alepat Taylor, a historic Melbourne-based, Italian family-owned company.

Contemporary Taste – Food-friendly, crunchy and juicy wines suited to current market preferences.

Terroir Summary:

Il Vignaiolo is intentionally multi-regional, drawing on the diversity of Italy’s vineyard landscapes to build a range with breadth, recognisable varietal character and strong regional cues. The Pinot Grigio comes from Delle Venezie DOC, a broad northern zone spanning the Veneto lowlands, the hills of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and the mountain influence of Trentino, combining freshness with aromatic lift and balance. The Sangiovese is sourced from Rubicone in Emilia-Romagna, an area closely associated with central Adriatic food culture and bright, juicy reds, while the Nero d’Avola comes from sun-drenched Sicilia DOC, where warmth and coastal influence shape ripe flavour, richness and natural balance.

Philosophy:

Il Vignaiolo is not built around a historic estate or a single family story, but around a contemporary idea of Italian wine culture. The name refers to the vignaiolo, the winemaker-grower understood in Italy as the custodian not only of wine, but also of local knowledge, food traditions and the continuity of vineyard life across generations. For us, the project serves as a way to gather a small portfolio of regionally resonant Italian wines that feel authentic, unfussy and deeply connected to the table.
