Born from the bold vision of Vittorio Moretti (also founder of Bellavista) in the late ’80s, this exciting new Franciacorta to Australia is a project designed to dance the delicate balance of all the light and shade that comes from within this tiny region.
Aptly named for the contadi (fertile lands) and the castaldi (who ruled them), Contadi Castaldi’s fruit comes from small sites across the 19 villages across the DOCG, uniting in the underground tunnels beneath a once-abandoned brick factory in Adro in the beating heart of Franciacorta. Far from a homogenized style that can be found in larger regions where this similar practice is adopted, Franciacorta’s 3000 total hectares (e.g. Champagne is ten times the size and produces 20 times as much wine) ensures these are always distinctive and terroir-driven wines.
Contadi Castraldi brings us a series of wines starting with the Pinot Noir/Chardonnay/Pinot Bianco Brut NV, a NV Rosé, and a Satèn (100% Chardonnay) vintage. These are refined yet approachable wines—designed to be enjoyed, not overthought. With embossed bottles, modern labels, and col-labs with music festivals and Ducati Corse (yes, we also have small quantities of their specialty Ducati bottling!), Contadi Castaldi blends tradition with pop spirit – making Franciacorta not just perfectly delicious, but easy to appreciate and understand.
