Burkes Hill is an east‑facing Eden Valley site sitting around 430 metres above sea level, with Shiraz first plantings from 1965. The site is largely dry‑grown and naturally varied in soil and aspect, giving the fruit depth and definition without the need for multiple vineyard sources. The winemaking approach stays hands‑on and traditional: fermentation in small open fermenters, hand plunging, and basket pressing before the wine moves into a mix of new and seasoned French oak hogsheads for an extended maturation.

In the glass, the wine shows the lifted florals typical of Eden Valley, joined by dark fruit aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry and a touch of sage. The palate is defined by pure fruit concentration, driven by a focused core of blackcurrant layered with hints of white pepper and supported by fresh natural acidity. Fine, detailed tannins carry the wine through a long, composed finish, highlighting both its structure and its clarity of expression.
