The Reserve Shiraz represents Gibson’s most considered expression of Barossa Shiraz, assembled from up to 20 individual parcels selected for finesse, structure and long‑term potential. Each parcel is fermented in small one‑ and two‑tonne open fermenters before being hand‑plunged and basket‑pressed. French oak plays a defining role in the style, with maturation taking place over 18 months in both hogsheads and puncheons, giving the wine its polished frame and layered depth.
2023
2023’s warm, even season resulted in ripening occurring slightly later than usual. Flavour development was slow and natural, assisting with balance, colour and strong varietal purityIn the glass. The wine shows deep crimson colour and concentrated aromas of blackberry and blood plum supported by toasted spice and gently cedary oak. The palate is dense and structured, led by a core of blackberry fruit with savoury notes of cocoa powder and dark chocolate adding complexity. Long, fine and persistent tannins create a seamless finish, giving the wine both presence and refinement.
