Winemakers since 1953, the Capetta family operates in Piedmont across the famed DOCs and DOCGs of Langhe, Terre del Gavi, Roero, Acqui, and the Moscato hills of Cuneo, Asti and Alessandria. This is made from Barbera grapes grown in a large hilly area in the provinces of Asti and Alessandria characterised by calcareous, clayey and sandy soil.
Slightly lighter in body and tarter than a Barbera d’Alba, but never lacking in colour, this is a classic Asti style. Very vinous and ethereal, there are notes of blackberry, plum and spices. In the mouth there’s a complex balance of ferrous, mineral notes with the darker berries and cherries, across a medium bodied palate. It finishes with a snap of acidity and powdery tannins. Partner with smoky charcuterie or game meats to bring out that juiciness and sweet-and-sour fruit character.
