Balbi Soprani Barbaresco DOCG

Winemakers since 1953, the Capetta family operates in Piedmont across the famed DOCs and DOCGs of Langhe, Terre del Gavi, Roero, Acqui, and the Moscato hills of Cuneo, Asti and Alessandria. This is made from Nebbiolo grapes grown near the ancient villages of Barbaresco, Neive and Treiso. 2021 was a benchmark vintage, with a long and even ripening period, producing excellent quality fruit. This wine was aged for 9 months in large-format oak.

This is a classic Barbaresco wine with the trademark ethereal bouquet of cherry fruit, roses, spice and leather. The palate is harmonious and robust but never heavy, with powdery tannins and perfumed length. Balbi Soprani wines are always well aged in bottle before release and are ready to drink immediately, however this beautiful vintage has also provided the structure allowing for longevity here.
