Bellussi Prosecco DOC Extra Dry

In 1993, Enrico Martellozzo, with the help of his winemaking father Paolo, took control of a historic site in the commune of Valdobbiadene, with the centre of operations just a kilometre south of the famous village of the same name. They immediately renamed the site Bellussi, a moniker derived from the bellussare pruning method which is commonly used in Valdobbiadene. Then began a decades-long expansion restoring vineyards and establishing one of the most impressive wineries in the Prosecco area.

The fruit for the DOC was cultivated from various sites across the hills of Treviso, where a higher proportion of clay in the clay/ limestone soils make for a rounder, more voluptuous sparkling wine. Only the first 70% of the free run juice was retained, partnering that rounder character with pure and fruit-forward varietal flavour. At just over 12 g/L residual, this sits on the drier end of ‘Extra Dry’, while its softer presence means it’s a very versatile sparkling and is especially well-suited as an aperitif.
