Finca Fella Cala Rey Blanco

70% Verdejo and 30% Sauvignon Blanc were harvested from a parcel near the Alpera township, which is between 700 and 800 metres above sea level to the south-west of Valencia. The vines are cultivated on steep, arid slopes and the weather is mild and dry. Verdejo, pronounced ‘Vurr‑day‑ho‘ is one of Spain’s most characterful white grapes, celebrated for its ability to stay bright and zesty even in hot, dry regions thanks to its tiny berries and thick protective skins that lock in acidity and aromatics. Known for its punchy mix of lime, grapefruit, herbs, and fennel, Verdejo can also surprise with a richer, nutty side as it ages, developing flavours reminiscent of toasted almonds and Marcona nuts—a rare trick for a warm‑climate white. With a history stretching back over a thousand years and likely brought to Spain by Moorish traders, it’s a grape with as much story as style, thriving today as one of Spain’s most distinctive and expressive whites.
