Drawing from its origins in northeastern Italy, this Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso comes from the villages of Corno di Rosazzo, Premariacco, Cividale del Friuli and Faedis. Translating as “Refosco with the red stems”, vibrant acidity and a flavour spectrum of savoury florals, herbs and cherries define the variety. The fruit is fermented and matured entirely in stainless steel to preserve natural buoyancy and freshness.

‘Dark cherry, raspberry, some bitter liquorice (like the lovely little Italian sweets that come in cute tins, which I have quite a collection of), a smattering of dried herbs and flowers. It’s bright and quite ‘mineral’ with a tight slate-like feel to tannin, a subtle pastille richness to cherry and red fruits, with a tight finish of excellent length, and a little orange peel to close. Delicious. Recommended.” 93 points, Gary Walsh, Winefront
