Grown in Cantine del Notaio’s mineral-rich soils at 300-650m altitude, this is 100% Aglianico, biodynamically reared. Il Repertorio (repertoire) is Gerardo Giuratrabocchetti’s accessible style of Aglianico, picked when just ripe, macerated for just 10 days and fermented in steel then aged for one year in seasoned oak. It’s a constant receiver of Gambero Rosso’s Tre Bicchieri rating, despite being the entry to the range, showing the popular response to a non-traditional treatment of the grape. Gerardo himself describes this wine as like his grandfather, “a little rough but with a big heart!” however critics will instead praise its “depth and noble sophistication” (The Wine Advocate) and complexity of flavour meeting seamless texture.
2022
Aromas of black cherry, and other blue and purple fruits, complexed with violet, chocolate, tobacco, vanilla and menthol. The palate has bright primary fruit with a fresh and savory edge. More black fruits abound across a boldly tannic structure and a persistent finish reminiscent of liquorice root. Pair with roast and braised meat, game and mature cheeses.
“Gerardo Giuratrabocchetti has been caring for this family business all his life, as well as for this area of cultivation, which has also gained in visibility thanks to his presence over the past 20 years.” 3 bicchieri, and Premio Qualita Prezzo, Gambero Rosso
