Birra Castello S.p.A is a 100% Italian-owned beer producer, founded in 1997 in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The company now also owns the historic production facility “Fabbrica in Pedavena,” of Belluno, Veneto, which has been in operation since 1897 and merged operations with Castello in 2006. Apart from maintaining an independent outlook, company values embrace and preserve heritage while maintaining dynamism and continually improving on brewing mastery. There is an emphasis on local ingredients, with a policy of using 100% Italian barley malt to continue the connection between the company and its origins and ensure high quality beer.
Also protecting the local community and its future, Birra Castello has a strong environmental policy, encompassing the voluntary agreement with the Ministry of the Environment to monitor greenhouse gas emissions. This has been followed by the renewal of energy systems leading them to be the first industrial beer plant in Italy to eliminate ammonia gas from the production site, plus have a significant reduction in CO2 emissions through the kegging phase. They have also installed an extensive photovoltaic system on the roof in the San Giorgio di Nogaro plant.
