Joining our extensive range from Pasqua wines this month are the new 2023 vintages of Black Label wines. Classically styled Veneto wines sitting above the Capitolo range in quality and price, these still carry Pasqua’s constants of value and flavoursome punch.
The Ripasso in particular is a shining star, and although it’s made in the traditional way (with a secondary fermentation on the marc of Amarone skins), it represents the new direction of Valpolicella that we’re seeing with both Pasqua and Masi; varietal peppery notes and silky tannins the key standouts rather than alcohol and muscular weight.
The Pinot Grigio has seen barrel fermentation for one-third of the must, plus a short maturation in seasoned oak for the whole parcel. Differing from the Capitolo, the primary fruit is bolder and riper which, matched with the touches of oak, delivers more weight and texture in the mouth – definitely a point of difference for Venetian Pinot G.
Also joining this duo in the latest shipment are the new vintage of the innovative Romeo and Juliet Appassamento Bianco, the flagship-vineyard 2015 Mae dire Mai, plus two new Capitolos (Pinot Grigio and Sangiovese), complete with new labelling.
