Tscharke Wines joins Alepat Taylor

We’re incredibly excited to announce that we are now the Victorian distributors for Tscharke Wines. Not just certified organic and biodynamic, Tscharke is one of the most sustainable winegrowing projects in Australia, with the full cellars underground, on-site solar power, 100% rainwater use and a solid dedication to understanding the terroir they are blessed with and adapting practice to harness its power whilst simultaneously protecting it.

Tscharke is on the western ridge of the Barossa in Marananga, and produce wines from estate sites in Stone Well, Greenock Creek and Gnadenfrei. The varieties include the more traditional red Rhone grapes we associate with the Barossa (Shiraz and Grenache), but the sustainable approach has led the team to establish alternative varieties such as Savignin, Albarino, Montepulciano and Grenache Blanc. The grape growing/winemaking team – yes, there’s a single approach across both elements at Tscharke – is led by vinous rockstar Damien Tscharke. As in the vineyard, an open and explorative mind in the cellar has birthed more contemporary elevage techniques including terracotta amphorae and concrete eggs. All the wines are unfined and 100% vegan.

All this represents an exciting new chapter for Alepat Taylor, and we’re very happy to welcome Tscharke to the family. Our distribution will kick off with Tscharke’s Estate range and two Single-vineyard red wines, and you can order from the start of January 2024 Please get in touch if you would like more information on the estate or any of the wines.
