Leone di Castris had 625 acres under vine in DOC Salento and across multiple terroirs in neighbouring villages and the peninsula that makes up Italy’s heel. Innovation and preservation of the area’s wine culture has made Leone de Castris one of the major wine names of Puglia in recent decades, through works in the Vinum Loci project plus an active dedication to quality. This diverse range of sites produces multiple grape varieties, bringing some great excitement to our portfolio through Negroamaro, Primitivo, Verdeca, Susumaniello and more. There are several exciting levels to these wines, ranging from the forward and approachable (and approachably priced) Maiana range; through several single-vineyard, single-varietal wines; Italy’s first-ever-produced Rosé (when it originated in 1943); and further premium wines we’ve brought to you with extra bottle age.
