DiGiorgio New Labels

You may have noticed a gradual shift in presentation over the last few months while DiGiorgio’s labels undergo a refreshment. The Renaissance range has seen the greatest change, and is now titled ‘Head in the Clouds’, a reference to the family’s Abruzzo heritage (the people of this central Italian region are said to have their head in the clouds and their feet in the sea – more on that follows). Most of these have now rolled vintage and have bold graphic labels easily identifiable by colour. The Coonawarra range retains its classic black-and-white hues with some sleek modern styling and a little storytelling, while the new labels of the Lucindale range give a nod to the Italian table.

Among the new wines is the recently reviewed Head in the Clouds Rosé, which is now made from Pinot Noir rather than Dolcetto. It’s just picked up silver and a red star for value in Halliday’s Wine Companion, along with the note from Shanteh Wale: “A faint rose quartz hue in the glass. The wine shows cherry blossom, white nectarine and alpine strawberries. The intensity of fresh strawberries increases on the palate with a lovely weight of fruit sweetness and then swiftly breaks to crunchy Pink Lady acidity and a just-dry finish. A clever little wine that almost every rosé lover would adore.”
